Exclusive Interview: Dakota West - FanFic Gala 2019

We were honored to have an excellent talent, such as Dakota West, in our script festival: FanFic Gala. His role as Sam, in the live reading of Supernatural "Make New Friends" by Shirley Napoleone - a returning Winner of Azure Lorica's FanFilm Awards 2017.  Thanks to his participation in Azure Lorica's event, we were able to catch Dakota for an exclusive interview:

1) You participated in the World Premiere of FanFic Gala, as reader. What was your favorite role in the festival, and why?

Role wise I only was cast as Sam in the Supernatural read. But it was a phenomenal role to play and fun to develop a friendship so quickly opposite my "brother" Stew. Which the true joy of the role was getting to work with such an interesting cast of people.

2) Accents were everywhere at the FanFic Gala. Do you specialize in any, and how often do you speak in a different accent, as an Actor?

I'm thankfully able to do a variety of accents. There's a couple that I think I'm good in, but the true test is having someone from there listen to your accent. Those accents are British (Chav, Wales, Stereotypical, and London basic) Australian, Irish (Still in the works), and Russian. I often speak in accents for plays, sometimes for film. But here's hoping for more opportunities to do that on camera.

3) Kids these days want to be voice actors. As practicing Actors, what advice would you give for these aspiring talents?

As a voice actor myself, the first big and foremost thing is this. Have fun! Never forget why you're there and how much you love the craft. Honing it everyday through your experiences, good or bad. As for other advice, visit SweetWater.com which is like a one stop shop to see everything you might need. If you don't have a home built studio, a closet is brilliant space to record. Clothes acting as the sound proofing and the like. To those out there reading this, I wish you nothing but the best of luck on your journey!

4) What's your next project? Where can we find more of your work?

Man oh man! As for next projects, I'm in a immersive experience show called "Touch". Written and directed by Ben Cox. Another show called "LA Horror Stories: Red Meat" for a one night show on my part. Touch opens up on September 27th, and Red Meat opening up October 11th. Besides that, it's living this wild journey through whatever it takes you through. Thick and Thin, highs and lows. Just another day in the life of an actor.
