Thank you. Thank you very much

Interviewer: of course. Brava, brava.

Gracias, thank you. The short film isn’t actually realistic. It was inspired by David Cronenberg.

Interviewer: Wonderful. I've noticed some situations where people had the hardest time grieving over their spouses, that they would actually eat their ashes [in referenceI to seen in short film]. Yeah, enough documentaries will do that to you, so. To begin, please tell us who you are and what your role is in this film.

I am the director, screenwriter, and right now the general producer.

Interviewer: Wow! A lot of hats.Well done.

It’s independent filmmaking. It was done in Buenos Aires a year ago, as an independent production. It was actually done without any financial support of any kind. So very independent, yeah.

Interviewer: Yeah, doing films on shoestring budgets is never easy, so I really am just humbled that would and still do try.

Everything, from the catering, to the actors, to the post production was actually kind of volunteered. So it was all kind of from their kindness.

Interviewer: For the casting, are these people you usually work with? Where did you find them? They’re amazing.

I’m actually a photographer as my main profession, and have been working as one for more than 25 years. And I actually work on creating the script books for actors and the like. And I actually met Matthias some time ago. When I met him, I immediately realized that he was the guy for the role. You know, this was in the middle of the pandemic, so we had to stop rehearsal with the lead actor after the first 2 months. But then we decided to have very thorough rehearsals right before the actual shooting. Since I'm really interested in building characters and the process for that.

Interviewer: In the process of creating the character, what were your inspirations?

I’m also an actress, so I really understand how complex building characters can be. And I wanted to accompany the actor in the process, you know, since it was a complex character to build. And the daily work just accompanies building the character, the actor and the director together.

Interviewer: With working with an apartment, how hard was it to work with lighting, uh, camera work, as a director?

It was actually very easy because the team was marvelous. They were all professionals and had experience before. One photographer in particular had a lot of experience with doing film work. So everything was very harmonious and went very well. Uh, except for last night, there was a little inconvenience with the last scene where the police turned up. Haha. But it was an otherwise very smooth process.

I also actually worked on the process and you know the song in italian you hear? I am the singer! It’s actually original music of course, the lyrics were written by Karina and theres a very well known musician Leo Bloomberg who’s the composer. It’s all in the family, haha.

Interviewer: We’re very honored to have you then

There is a moment when Herman watches a cartoon. That was actually designed especially for the film by a designer.

Interviewer: Sound like everyone had their fun with this project

Yeah you know, I really like to be involved in all the details, and even the smaller details. Production was very detailed as well, the colors, the credits, the sound. Everything was really taken care of.

Interviewer: How long did it take to shoot the whole film

About six days? Yeah, just a week.

Interviewer: Wow! That’s just amazing

They were long days. Haha.

How many people were in the production all together?

Around 20 people. That’s actors, technicians and everything

Interviewer: I guess the only other question I have is, where can we find more of your work?

During the pandemic, I actually also filmed more short films. The first one is called Bubblegum. It actually has been in some other festivals and actually even won a few prizes. It’s a homage to pasta kitchens. Very interesting. And then I filmed another one called The Stillness, The Kiss, and the Flower. The theme is related to the pandemic. So that’s three short films in two years.

Well done, well done

They are not really online so far, since they are all in festivals right now. But we can definitely let you access them privately for the time being if you like.

Where can we follow you for your screenings?

Carina Greenstein Producciones. In Spanish, haha.

Interviewer: Well thank you, and please, I hope you guys end up enjoying the rest of the festival.
